Dion's was born in 1978 from a simple belief: great food made with fresh, honest ingredients brings people together. What started as a single pizza counter on 4th Street NW has grown into one of New Mexico's most beloved restaurant families — all without ever compromising on the quality that made us who we are.

Our recipes remain largely unchanged from day one. We still hand-stretch every dough, slice vegetables fresh each morning, and roast our own green chile. We're proud to be part of the fabric of Albuquerque — sponsoring Little League teams, partnering with local schools, and hiring from the neighborhoods we serve.

Today, Dion's operates multiple locations across New Mexico, each one carrying the same warmth, the same flavors, and the same community spirit that Dion himself put into every pizza in 1978.

46 Years of Dion's History

1978

The First Slice

Dion Lusk opens the very first Dion's on 4th Street NW in Albuquerque with a handwritten menu, a brick oven, and a dream to feed his community with honest, delicious pizza.

1985

Second Location Opens

Fueled by demand and loyal regulars, Dion's expands with a second restaurant in the Northeast Heights, bringing the same recipes and warmth to a whole new neighborhood.

1993

The Green Chile Revolution

Dion's introduces its iconic New Mexico Green Chile pizza — a bold, locally-inspired creation that becomes the chain's signature dish and an Albuquerque staple overnight.

2002

Best of Albuquerque Award

For the first of many times, Dion's earns the Albuquerque Journal's "Best Pizza" recognition — a title we've held more years than any competitor in the city's history.

2010

Community Investment Program

Dion's formalizes its community giving initiative — pledging a percentage of every sale to local schools, youth sports, and food banks across New Mexico.

2018

40th Anniversary Celebration

Dion's marks four decades of service with a city-wide celebration, a limited-edition menu featuring original 1978 recipes, and a heartfelt tribute to the Albuquerque community.

2024

Online Ordering & Expansion
